The painting exhibition “Pakal, the lord of the volcanoes” opens in San Lázaro.

03-12-2019.- The president of the Culture and Cinematography Commission, deputy Sergio Mayer Bretón (Morena), inaugurated the painting exhibition “Pakal, the lord of the volcanoes” by the painter Gabriela Salomón Kuri.

The exhibition is made up of 22 abstract works in which the colors gold, blue and red stand out, expressing the emotions of Gabriela Salomón Kuri. Through her paintings, the Mexican artist of Lebanese origin expresses her admiration for Pakal, divine lord of the Mayan culture and ruler of the archaeological zone of Palenque, Chiapas.

Mayer Bretón said it is a source of pride that the Chamber of Deputies opens the door to international culture. “When we observe Gabriela’s work, we open a space for her works, and we are proud that she exhibits her art in the homes of Mexicans.”

He mentioned that through abstract art one can find great things like the feeling that the artist wants to convey in his work. He said that the Legislative Palace receives the first opportunity to present this exhibition.

“I am convinced that through art, culture, music and painting we can transform the country. Only with art will we be able to combat the insecurity that Mexico is experiencing. It is our commitment to continue supporting such wonderful artists.”

Gabriela Salomón Kuri expressed her excitement that her work will be exhibited for the first time in the Chamber of Deputies, “a place where a sea of expressions converge” not only artistic but ideological and that will define us in time, she said.

In her turn, Carla Hassoun, secretary of the Lebanese embassy in Mexico, said that this event celebrates art, nature and the human being. “The artist through her works shows us her true colors, her emotions that she carries through art, nature and her spirit that is a fusion of two nations, Mexico where she was born and Lebanon, where her roots are.”
